Why an advocacy platform for informal care in The Hague?
Everyone has to deal with informal care sooner or later; because you care for a loved one or because you need help yourself. One in four Dutch people aged 16 and over provides informal care. In The Hague alone, there are around 120,000 active carers. So informal care is pretty normal. Yet we hardly ever talk about it and carers struggle to stand up for themselves.
What The Hague’s Platform for the Representation of Informal Care does!
We at the Platform Belangenbehartiging Mantelzorg Den Haag (The Hague’s Platform for the Representation of Informal Care) believe it is important for the voices of carers to be heard by the city council and other organisations. We want carers to get the support they need. Our mission is to ensure carers can provide care in a way that suits their lifestyle. We also believe it is important that carers can access the support they need to successfully combine informal care with other activities.
Our priorities are:
- Provide information to carers;
- Raise awareness of the concept of informal care;
- Highlight obstacles and the demand for support;
- We act as a liaison for the city council and other organisations.
Tell us what you think is important!
Are you a carer too? We would love to hear what you think is important. Join us in the Mantelzorgpanel Den Haag. Around four times a year, panel members receive questions on a current topic. You will also receive invitations for platform meetings and our digital newsletter.
